Week Number // Name: 2 // The Gossip Train
Characters Open To // Involved: Kase // Aleida and Kase
Reason: Telepathy and Turning Points
Aleida, who was looking particularly placid, peered around the room calmly, making note of the paint color and the crown moulding. Actually, she was paying an unusual attention to things. Normally she would never have spent five minutes considering whether that small blip on the moulding was where it was nailed in or if it was just her vision. She was lost on what made the paint color so...interesting, but she decided then to have a good long think about it. She would figure it out eventually, of course.
"Try to pay attention, Aleida," a stern voice came, breaking the silence and her concentration. She fought the scowl that was threatening to present itself, locking her face in a state of serenity. Though she was rather put out by the professor, she did not think about it. After all, it's hard to read some one's thoughts when there aren't any.
Staring across from her, Aleida was hesitant to lock eyes with Kase, thinking that might give Kase some sort of advantage. She didn't know how the other girl's power worked, and she was not willing to give Kase the upper hand. She previous attempts at blocking out the other girl had been squandered by the professor (she had honestly thought that Kase would never be able to find her true memories if her head was so clogged with useless thoughts), and now Aleida was left to wonder what she could possibly to keep the other girl out.
Then it struck her. Perhaps she was trying the wrong tactic. Maybe keeping Kase out wasn't what she should have been trying to do. She thought back on her life, picking out memories and altering them. Her thirteenth birthday. After a swift alteration, she had received so many gifts she simply could not recall all of them. But she did try, even if all the gifts were fake. Socks, over-the-hill silly gifts, hair ties, books (she did attempt to list off books, but quickly moved on), a new television, a trip to her favorite restaurant, the new CDs and DVDs she had wanted. All of that she had gotten - or so she was trying to formulate now. All she had to was convince herself (or so she hoped) and Kase would think she had broken through.
