epilogue: i hope we’ll stand by each other forever; grabbing each other’s hands during difficult times; so let’s go home right now; i’ll embrace you softly again tonight
[one year later]
shit shit shit shit- jaejoong curses low under his breath as he tries not to trip over scattered clothes on the floor. yah kim junsu- he skids to a stop right next to the bed where the said man is wrapped snugly in gray comforter, sleeping soundly; he bends over and smacks a loud kiss on the open mouth.
yah wake up we're late- wakey wakey- junsu wake up- he shakes the man forcefully, watching how the eyelashes flutter lazily. yah, don't pretend you didn't hear me- wake up, today's not the day for you to sleep in- wake up-
junsu cracks an eye fully open, yawning wide. yes boyfriend, good morning to you too, he mumbles grumpily. you never let me sleep in anyway, sheesh. he sits up slowly, rubbing away at sleep-laden slits.
jaejoong bustles around the room busily, hands picking and rearranging items, mouth muttering words that junsu cannot hear.
are you badmouthing me again? junsu rolls his eyes. he pulls at the thick fabric around his waist and spreads it down, trailing to the floor as if he's spreading a picnic mat open-
yah, don't do that! jaejoong rushes and towers over the tousled figure; he slaps the naughty hands away and whines loudly- are you trying to add to the laundry load? i'd just sent this to the cleaners last week!
aw, jae-hyung~~~ don't be mad~~~ junsu smiles toothily anyway; he knows he can get away with it. he doesn't even flinch when jaejoong pinches his arm small and long, quite used to it. what time is it?
the question jerks jaejoong to a standstill.
shit. his mouth forms a perfect o. you! shower! now! he screeches.
they tumble out of the front door, pushing and pulling between each other.
jaejoong tries to pat down junsu's flyaway strands while the latter is trying to choke himself with one black velvet tie. junsu slaps the hand away, trying to knot his tie and relocate his black dress shoes at the same time-
stop! jaejoong hollers.
they both freeze, eyes wide mirroring each other. jaejoong pulls the younger man near, their breaths mingling-
i will knot your tie, and after that you can look for your shoes which should be in the second tier of the left shoe-rack, and then we'll do something about your hair on our way there. we're calling the cab. we're not going to make it on time.
junsu pouts.
you will listen to me, this one time. jaejoong says firmly. just today. please. he exhales long, already a little tired, despite it being still an early morning. he snatches the black cloth clean from the slackened grip, and junsu ducks a little to accommodate his actions.
the younger man whistles a cheerful tune while waiting, a song appropriately chosen for the occasion of the day- before he probably remembers something unpleasant; his face contorts into apparent displeasure.
hyung-
jaejoong hums in answer, but his hands doesn't stop twisting and turning.
-do you seriously, really, absolutely sure that you have to work this evening?
jaejoong pulls at the little knot- done. he brushes imaginary dust particles off the shoulders and tries to flatten junsu's unruly hair again, but to no avail- yes, junsu-yah, i need to work. the bills are due tomorrow. please understand-
junsu wrenches his whole body away, grabs the said shoes and stomps down the stairs loudly clad in his black socks, ignoring the other obstinately.
it is a deathly silent ride to their destination of the day.
junsu keeps his gaze to the whirl of scenery outside and pulling his hands away everytime jaejoong tries to enclose it within his or talk to him. he even kicks at the back of the front passenger seat when jaejoong tries to even muster a small baby at him, much to the consternation of the cab driver. jaejoong burns under the fiery glance he receives, reflected to him by the rear mirror. he stops trying to mend the situation, and decides to let junsu cool his temper off himself- or he can always ask yoochun to cheer up the sulking man.
jaejoong winces when junsu slams the door shut when they arrive in front of the grand iron-wrought gate, and stalks off to greet yoochun who's leaning against the cream-coloured walls. he gives an extra few bucks to the fuming driver, apologising profusely again and again- and coughs when the car speeds away leaving him in thick smoke.
he sighs.
you guys fought again? yoochun chuckles and avoids a small punch directed at him.
shut up. junsu snaps. this time it's a serious issue. how dare he-
what did he do this time around? yoochun cuts through. he changed your toothbrush again? bleached your soccer shorts? he snorts. you guys have the strangest issues ever. you're a weirdo, su-yah, you know that?
he knows i like green toothbrush, and he changed it to pink! i'm a man! i'm allergic to pink! junsu rants. and that soccer shorts had kim ji sung's autograph! it's gone forever now! and i told you- he shoots a dirty glare at the smirking man, this time it's so serious i'm not going to forgive him easily.
yoochun shrugs lazily. it's not the first time junsu exaggerates about the fights he has with jaejoong. he has learned the art of tuning out to the heated words and and yet appear supportive.
he knows today is our one year anniversary, and decides to work- junsu rolls his eyes and sneers, because the bills have to be paid tomorrow. what kind of bullshit is that? i can deal with not getting a nice one-year gift because it's graduation day today too, and it's a busy day, but really? he has to work too? and he didn't bother asking for a day off for tomorrow either, to make up for today! like- he fans himself fast and furious, oh god, i'm so mad at him i'm going to ignore him for the rest of the day-
yoochun nods and slings an arm around junsu's shoulder. do you want me tell you about xiah then?
junsu stops talking halfway. wait, what? xiah? he breaks into an ear-splitting grin. of course you have to, you stingy man- and spill all the details, hyung. he leers at the bouncy man next to him.
yoochun snorts. they have bonded so well over the year that junsu only calls him hyung when he needs help, wants a favour, or is going to demand something. yeah, that sounds about right.
so he's your age, and he lives in the apartment complex opposite mine. i would've asked for his house number, but that sounds a bit too over-eager, i guess. he grimaces when he sees junsu's disapproving expression. anyway, he's a music major, has an amazing vocal range, eats like a total slob just like you, and loves soccer like a religion. i can totally see you and him ditching me for a fanatical conversation about how short soccer shorts have to be for better playing experience. he sighs. jaejoong's right, you're too obsessed about the damned ball. we should start break you out of that bad habit.
junsu ignores the pointed jab at him and shakes with excitement, spazzing. this is going to be so awesome! i already love this xiah guy. my age? cool, totally going to be my friend, and yes we are so going to ditch you often. he pulls yoochun in for a quick bear-hug, his eyes tender and soft on the smile the other has on. aw hyung i'm so glad for you. you deserve nothing better. he pinches the cheeks- tell me if he mistreats you, 'cause i'll kick his ass for you okay? have you asked him out for a date yet?
this saturday. yoochun flashes his pearly teeth proudly and lets junsu pet his perfectly coiffed hair. he reasons that the latter's excited face is totally worth his ruined hairdo. he sees jaejoong waving at them from the massive door of the hall, elaborately decorated for the day, and pushes through throngs of people, dragging junsu behind him.
jaejoong fidgets nonstop throughout the ceremony. since he is two semesters late in completing his studies, he's graduating along with junsu's batch- but since he is older, he will be the first one to receive his scroll. the whole shenanigans of talks, speeches and clapping passes by in a whirling frenzy, as he tunes out and concentrates on his thoughts instead.
he thinks about the accident, and how he's affected by it. what kind of person he becomes after it, and the people he has around him offering steel-solid support. especially junsu, right from the start, and now his whole family.
he smiles unconsciously as an image of junsu flits through his mind. the younger man is so unpredictable that he doesn't know what to expect from this relationship they have. granted, they haven't gone further than kisses and innocent touches- because jaejoong wants this feeling he has for junsu to be real, solid and unbreakable, regardless of the circumstances that they will face in the future.
he knows that it is probably too ideal of a hope, that he wants this love to last forever, because he knows how volatile and fickle one heart can be. but he decides that this time, he wants to love like he has nothing to lose and fall like he doesn't need any saving; he wants to let go and let junsu have all of him, every little piece of him.
he chuckles quietly. he wonders how he become this entranced by romantic notions- and jolts back into reality when deafening clapping and jeering and shouts blast through his eardrums. he looks around and notices that by the looks of it, his name will be called out soon.
he twists around to look for junsu- he knows that the man is directly two rows behind him. he catches the attention of the dark orbs, and mouths a quiet i love you, and smiles genuinely.
their eyes are connected and it seems like everything else ceases to exist; in the heat of the moment he realizes what he really wants at that time- he whispers a low marry me?; he grins when junsu's eyes widen in surprise, and beams wider as the latter shakes his head fervently, a silent but affirmative yes.
this is happiness, their happiness, at the peak, he thinks.
junsu runs and tackles jaejoong the moment the ceremony ends.
yes yes yes yes! he yells loudly, ignoring the looks of the crowd around them.
they find their family members milling around on the grounds.
jaejoong scans the faces, and feels utterly blessed. everyone is there- his family and junsu's family. their parents, their siblings (yes, all of jaejoong's sisters are there, along with their respective husbands and kids)-
everyone that he has learned to appreciate wholly with every single fiber he is made up of.
he accepts the hugs, the kisses, the cooing, the petting- all the displays of love and affection. he gives them back too without hesitation, because he wants to atone for his past mistakes.
mom, dad, nuna, mr and mrs kim- he bows respectfully to the elders. junsu and i- he grips said man's hands tightly, exchanging looks of love between them- we have something to tell you guys. but let's move the party to somewhere quieter, and then we'll tell you all what it is. he sees the knowing looks between the parents, and guesses they can probably figure out what it is he's going to announce.
he ushers them all into the waiting vehicles anyway.
the children center is buzzing with activity, a party in full swing.
streamers here and there, music blaring through speakers, balloons littered, tables of food and drinks prepared; all courtesy of yoochun.
jaejoong has a hard time trying to keep junsu by his side, as the kids jump and grab at him, all eager and demanding for kisses and clamoring for his attention. he chuckles when he realizes that junsu looks and acts exactly the same way whenever he has switched to his kiddy-su personality. he dumps raina into yoochun's awaiting arms unceremoniously and fends off kids pulling and pushing at his waist with a laugh- wait, wait, oppa need to do something first, darlings.
he wades through balloons and tugs junsu towards the small stage within the room, where a microphone stands. he hooks an arm around junsu's waist and flicks the mic on, clearing his throat once and waits for the room to fall into silence.
testing, testing, one two three. testing, testing- everyone can hear me right? he sees nods all around the room and tries not to sweat. okay. uhm. like i said back at the uni, i have something to announce. he feels the comforting warmth that junsu emits, and takes a deep breath.
i love junsu. i want to marry him. i ask you guys for your blessings.
the room is silent for a few seconds- before thundering of cheers and clapping erupt. enthusiastic faces fill the room, from the smallest kid to the oldest woman, all congratulating them in stormy noise.
jaejoong grins at junsu and winks. maybe proposing and getting hitched is not that hard, after all.
giggling madly, they push the door open- a little buzzed after a glass or two of red wine, as their tolerance has significantly lowered since they stay away from alcohols since the accident.
jaejoong pulls at the knotted tie that junsu still has on and unravels it. he leans into the automatic embrace and whispers a slow junsu-yah, thank you. he rubs his face on the fabric, relishing the contact. he raises his face and kisses the tip of junsu's chin; he leans in and kisses the man deep and long and full of love.
they break away for air, and both laugh. jaejoong can feel the hands on his back, warm and feverish.
he smiles. i've got something to show you, come on- he kisses away the pout that junsu has on, and guides him into their bedroom. he flicks the lights on, soft and glowing- and hears junsu gasp.
happy first anniversary, baby. he whispers. like it?
junsu sniffles. i thought-
no way in hell am i going to forget about this. what kind of a man do you think i am? jaejoong leads junsu towards the massive luxurious reclining sofa placed at the corner of the room, next to the windows. see? i even got it in the colour you wanted. eventhough i have no idea why you want this and why you want such an expensive thing... he pushes the silent man down onto the soft bouncy item and hears junsu gasp again at the feeling of being partially swallowed into the comfortable sofa.
so good- junsu moans. god i love you so hard right now- he pulls a standing jaejoong tumbling down onto his lap and kisses him senseless, sucking at the lips and skin. god love you so much- he breathes in between kisses- wait, i thought you said you're working tonight?
jaejoong laughs. that party was the work. i planned everything with yoochun's help. and by the way, yoo bin's umma is going to hire us, to work for her at the children's center. she's going to mail us the official letter tomorrow. we're going to work together-
their laughter, full of wonder and satisfaction and hope joins and mingle again as one.
jaejoong dips in again for another kiss- before he pulls away with a low growl. their eyes lock on each other; he takes in the view of a flushed, breathless junsu, all his to love and care and pamper forever; and decides that-
you. clothes. off. now.
the end

author's note:
it's done! ;) phew. this is a baby monster that i've grown to love quite hard over the past 6 months. now that we're here, i wonder what made me persevere till the end, and i'm always reminded again and again how you guys' encouraging comments have kept my motivations alive. every single comment makes me flail, yes, even the one-word comments lol because jaesu is an unknown territory for me.
i'm bad and notorious for dropping fics half-way through due to personal reasons and maybe picking them up again after a certain period of time, but for the first time, i didn't want to do that, not to this fic. i've grown to love and hate this part of me who loves writing maybe a bit too much, but i'm okay with it. writing keeps me sane.
as it is, i'm not entirely satisfied with the way i wrote this fic since i'm pretty much a new/noob in this writing thing, but i've taken note of what i want to improve so that i won't commit the same flaws again in my future works. for this fic, i'm worried the most about the pacing, characterization and redundancy, and i hope i haven't butchered those aspects too much. i've been pretty lax with the plot too, playing around with the timeline and see what happens :(
all in all, despite all the un-satisfaction (lol) that i feel to myself for how the fic ends to be like, i still like, love and adore this. it's not my best work, and i apologize for that. you guys deserve better. allow me to reflect and present to you guys a better work in the future. well, provided i am prompted with a suitable theme, lol. apparently i work better when someone helps chip in with the suggestions xD hopefully
jaeluvsme darling won't be too mad that her prompt became... this. yeah.
now excuse me, i need to sleep. tomorrow's class as per normal. and oooops. i think i have an exam on tuesday. lol. am so dead x____x
so.... i guess this is goodbye. annyeong, paper cranes, you'll always be my baby. ♥
