I've always been a bit antagonistic when it comes to the royal family. On the one hand they're a symbol of an outdated imperialistic class system which we should do all we can to avoid, but on the other they make the americans jelous, which is reason in its self to keep them

But it won't stop there, why scrap something that makes us English over one thing? People hunt almost everything, so the anti-fox hunting activists will move onto that. No more duck hunting, no more pheasent shooting. If they had it their way, then it'd be against the law to breath on a cow.

My point isn't about the anti-hunt activists, I didn't say I was pro or anti hunting, although fox hunting with dogs I am against. I'm talking about how somebody can control what happens in the country just because of their parentage. The royals and the hereditary peers etc don't make us english, they make us powerless.

But it's not just the peers/royalty. If you take them away, then it'd be some other rich faction that'd 'be in control'. The key word here is 'rich', there'll always be Rich people, and there'll always be rich people using their money in polotics.

What your talking about is destroying parlementary democracy. If you scrap the nobility, then you scrap the house of lords. A stupid idea.

I have no problem with being a communist, communism would be the perfect way to live, if it worked, but it wouldn't.
