This is gonna be a long one, so here's a ToC for ya:

Oh apartment 103, why do you hate me so...

Early in November it started to rain, and my floor started warping. The leak was never fixed and my floor has been getting wetter and wetter since then. I've sent several letters to the building manager and to his boss, and I've had no response. Thus, I am going to move out of this apartment. I don't think this building itself is that bad...just this particular apartment.

On top of that, we had a wicked windstorm last week, and it ripped the trellis off the side of my patio. Part of the patio railing went with the trellis. Since the trellis was the only thing keeping people off my balcony and from stealing my stuff, everything valuable out there had to come inside.

My apartment is very crowded now, and is about to get even more crowded...but more on that later...

On work and insane management styles...

Work goes. My manager is a little frustrating for me sometimes. He's very smart, and that's the problem. You can't get a yes/no answer from him....ever. Asking him a question incites an hour of him talking about the issue, and all the possible and improbable issues that might, maybe, possibly come up at some point in the distant future.

This makes me not want to ask him questions.

Fortunately, my coworkers are helpful, so it's all working out. I've actually started to feel useful too. Bonus!

Oh James!

Things with James are going amazingly well. I feel like I've known him forever. Our lives fit together fabulously...so well, in fact, that he hasn't slept at home in over a month and a half. Two weekends ago we decided that he would move in for January, and then we would find a new place together for February when my lease is up.

So, my already overcrowded apartment is going to get even more crowded, but I'm so excited.

I have never before felt so loved and accepted in a relationship. It's so easy being with him. I don't censor myself, or feel like I have to change for him to stay with me. We just fit.

I never before realized how good a relationship could be.

The biggest thing for me is that I never feel like I need a night off from him. I guess that's just because I don't have to alter my behavior around him. I'm just me, and he's just him, and it totally works.

He did put his foot down on the weekend though....from now on, I will use two teabags in the teapot when I make tea.

And all the stars were crashing 'round as I laid eyes on what I'd found

On Wednesday, I took James to see The Decemberists at the Commodore. It was an amazing show. I would go see them again and again.

James, who had never really listened to any of their music before, is now a fan. We, uh, bought matching t-shirts. Shush! They were the only ones that were in the right size and color.

Meet the Parents

I met James' parents last night. They live up near Whistler, and had invited me up for Sunday dinner. They were so nice to me. They gave me big, genuine hugs when I left. Apparently this was a big deal for James' dad, since he doesn't really hug anyone, but he freely offered up a hug to me. We talked about all sorts of stuff, and when James and his dad went out for a moment, his mom dished all the dirt about how to keep James in line. Heheheheheh.

This Thursday, James meets my dad. I'm sure my dad will like him. He's such a great guy.

My sister is one sexy bitch!

On Saturday night, we went to see my sister's debut with the B:C:Clettes at the Anza Club.

Check out these videos from the night:

My sister is the curly haired blonde with the silver top, red sequined skirt and black choker.

They had so much fun!

Santa Baby

I've been gushing about how much fun the Wii looks...so James went and stood in line on Saturday morning to try to get me one for my birthday/xmas present.

Sadly, there were 3000 people and only 30 Wiis in stock, so he wasn't able to get one...but he did come home with a new 5-point surround speaker system for us from "Santa". It's currently taking up half of the free space in my living room, but that's just because it's still in the box. We'll probably set it up tonight.

James used to DJ, and he's still got turn-tables, so when he moves in, it's all going to get hooked up. Our housewarming (when we move into a bigger place) will be rockin'. You'll all be invited, of course!

Hippo Birdie!

So I turn 30 this Friday. I'm not having a big party before Christmas...my place is a disaster and there's just too much going on. I'll be heading to the Okanagan on Friday morning, so James and I are going to have a quiet celebration at midnight with a bottle of champagne.

James has his birthday on New Year's Day. We'll probably just mash the belated birthdays into the housewarming party sometime in the new year.

If anyone wants to wish me a happy birthday, I'll be at Nathaniel's potluck this week with James.

In summary, life is good.

Update: here's a video from The Decemberists concert!
