‘… he realized that he was on his way to school but he stopped by at this certain house (his usual routine) before going straight to his school.’
Warning: Unbeta-ed
A young teen rode his bicycle in front of the house, riding past the house but then did some U-turns and rode past the same house again. He repeatedly did so. He sighed when he did not see what he wished to see.
When he was about to leave, another teenager showed up from behind the huge and tall wall. He was walking while looking down to his feet, sometimes his finger moved up to fix his glasses.
‘Oh, shit!’ He mentally cursed and immediately pedaled hard his bicycle and left to hide behind the big streetlight not so far from the house. He watched the boy walk into his house, hugging his book in his arms, looking all nerd.
He smiled alone and rode his bicycle home.

It was early in the morning and the sky had yet turned all bright, still being hugged by the sinister clouds but there he was, sitting on his bike, lurking from behind the same big streetlight at a certain direction.
A boy walked out of the gate, followed by a middle aged lady. The lady stroked her son’s hair affectionately and muttered something to make the boy nod back in return. The boy leaned closer and pecked his mother’s cheek and smiled brightly before walking away to his school.
He witnessed the lovely sight and let out a calming sigh. ‘If only umma would have time to do so to me,’ he smiled forlornly. Nevertheless, his feet were slowly pushing the ground to move his bike. He followed the latter boy quietly from behind.
Suddenly, the boy stopped and turned around.
‘Oh, shoot!’
He quickly and recklessly turned his bike to another direction; the hard concrete block. All he knew was, he fell off of his bike, butt first, and his bike was now all over him.
“Ouch!” he shrieked out of pain, not intentionally to call out for some attention or help.
The nerd boy gawped and went over to help the helpless boy. But he was quicker and packed his stuffs before getting up and rushed with his bike and disappeared in no time.
The boy frowned and decided it’s just maybe his neighbor’s son who had always played truant and wanted to escape to somewhere. He shrugged and continued walking.

It was weekend. He was on his bike again, riding past the same house again. He stopped for a while on front of the small, yet firm and scary gate of the house but before he managed to take a short breath, the gate moved, signaling that there’s someone pushing from inside. He rushed away to hide at his familiar hideout.
He smiled, revealing his gums to no one. That boy was holding two large plastic bags. He put the bags into the trash can and out of the blue, stared straight towards his hideout.
He was panic behind the streetlight and was about to leave before the boy tilted his head in confusion.
He regained back his calmness and kept eyeing the boy interestedly before someone called out.
“Donghae!”
With that, the boy rushed inside, locking the gate of his house.
He grinned happily and pulled out a small paper from his pocket and then took out a pen.
He bit the pen’s cap and crossed the first point written on the paper. ‘Oh, Donghae.’
- His name.

Another week went on like that, with this certain young teen creeping from behind the streetlight and this boy, or Donghae staring weirdly at the streetlight, thinking that he saw something moving behind it.
But this morning was an exception. It was still early, like usual. The skies were still dark, not showing any signal to get brighter in a short time.
‘I’m early.’
He rode his bicycle to the same house and parked his bicycle right behind the big and tall concrete pillar. He waited there for a while and yawned while brushing his eyes, trying to shoo away the feeling of sleepiness. But then, he felt asleep, with head leaning against the wall of the block.
Donghae walked out of his house after bidding a short goodbye to his mom and his brother with a big smile plastered across his lips. ‘Good morning, beautiful world!’ his inside chirped happily.
But then, his smile was cut off. He scrutinized his eyes to get a better view. He thought he saw someone behind the light post. Donghae held tighter his books and sauntered near the post.
And there he saw a boy, a same age boy, he thought, leaning against the wall with closed eyes…sleeping?
“Excuse me.”
-
He didn’t know how did he fall asleep and what he knew someone was tapping his hand, which was still gripping the bicycle’s handle. Opening his eyes slowly to avoid the sudden attack of the bright light poking into his eyes from surrounding, he saw another boy standing before him, watching him confusedly.
He jumped out of shock and almost fell off of the bike.
“Sorry,” the latter said, putting a hand behind the boy on the bike’s back to prevent him from falling backward.
“Ah-ah. It-it’s okay,” he stuttered while straightening his school uniform. Seeing the boy was wearing the same uniform as him, Donghae asked. “Are you from Yoonjin Highschool, too?”
He just nodded back while trying to avoid any eye contact with Donghae. Donghae looked up to his watch. “Oh shoot! We’re almost late!”
He was bewildered. Yoonjin? Late? What? And just then he realized that he was on his way to school but he stopped by at this certain house (his usual routine) before going straight to his school.
“Oh god. Let’s go now!” he almost screamed and Donghae just chuckled beside him.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, tilting his head a bit to look at the chuckling guy beside him.
“Hmm, nothing. I’m Lee Donghae, by the way,” Donghae said, offering a hand to him.
“Err,” he scratched the back of his head. “I’m Lee Hyukjae.”
Donghae smiled to him. To him…. and he thought that was the prettiest innocent smile he had ever seen.
Hyukjae smiled foolishly at himself.
He followed Donghae, still like the past weeks. But now, Donghae was walking beside him.
