The gentle current
Carries my sorrow beyond
Still islands of mossStepping softly through the clear waters of the wetlands, leafy tangles of watercress and uncurling fiddle ferns brushed against my bare legs. Using the unhurried stream as a trail I wondered deeper into the forest marsh, where unseen flowers bloomed each summer in this sanctuary of ( Read more... )

It's beautiful! Some day when I've saved enough money I hope to get a custom iaito and eventually shinken from here: http://swordstore.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.cgi/02nav/00how-main.html

Iaito is the art form of drawing the katana, the back sword. Daito is the long sword. Just helping.

You also seem to have an interest in Japanese culture and tradition (I could be wrong, but when I first saw your user name I read it as "do-san") would you mind if I added you to my friends list? I started learning Iaido about two months ago, and am completely in love with it. It's something I've always been drawn to, and I'm just so grateful to have finally found a teacher. If you don't mind my asking, do you practice any martial arts at all? I really take great delight in almost all the other aspects of Japanese traditional arts, and have recently begun to focus on rock gardens and cooking Japanese food.

Dosan ( Mr. Copper) was used in place of Otosan (father) for the live journal, as Otosan was being used at the time that I had started. Yes you can add me to your "friends List." I do not write or answer posts all that much as I am usually involved with other pressing projects. Book and technical writing, research and development as well as teaching. As for martial arts, I no longer practice due to age and health conditions but I do practice mentally. Oriental cooking IS my specialty, one of the few vices that I have. Bushi in Mandarin is "no."
