The Aeons are no longer wreaking havoc upon us... that's a relief, to say the least. Have other Summoners found it as daunting a task to calm them?

I wonder what has become of them now.

[Did his, in particular, fade away again? If they're all just dreams... There's a pause as he's thinking about that.]Hmmph. Although I cannot imagine how I ( Read more... )

I think I had better luck than some, considering, but it still wasn't easy.

The Aeons wouldn't listen to reason, until they were considerably weakened. Was that also your experience?

More or less. It was easier to reach my father and those Espers I knew before, but the rest were a lot more difficult to handle.

I see. It's unfortunate that not even Summoning experience was of much use in this incident... [Though what he was thinking in waving around a sword, he can't even guess.]

Who cares what becomes of them as long as they're gone??

The fate of the Aeons matters to some of us.

A rod? What do you need a rod for?

To use in battle. It's an effective tool for magic, especially summoning.

What do you summon?

I summon forth beings called Aeons, to fight in battle. They're capable of highly devastating attacks.

And the monsters that recently attacked our town were Aeons...

A rod? Like to bash things?

Now there's a use for it I hadn't tried. [Well, when he runs out of magic, maybe... but he's more used to hanging out in the back row casting while the swordfighter types do all the hitting things.] No, it's for casting my spells and for summoning.

I'd think the bashing would've been the first thing you'd think of. [Mostly because Auron came off as the silent hack'n'slash guy] Oh. That makes sense!

Is that so? [Auron sounds surprised by this, since to his memory he's always been a Summoner.] My primary role in battle is always spellcasting and summoning, so it's only natural that's my first line of defense.

Forgive me sir, but I have been curious for some time... why actually entails a summoner?

[Oh and the eyes lie. There is two eyes. See here.]

There are differences between worlds, but... Summoners where I'm from are trained their entire lives to call forth beings called Aeons, who fight for us in battle. Where I'm from, there was also an important duty associated with Summoners, as we were the only ones capable of defeating Sin.

Defeating... "Sin" ? Might I ask what Sin entails?

Sin is a creature that threatened our world for years. A Summoner would go on a pilgrimage in order to destroy Sin and bring the Calm... but the Calm never lasted, with Sin being reborn anew every time. It wasn't until recently that the cycle was broken.
