Riding the nostalgia train

I'm currently getting my golden age kicks by reading Fine Lines, a weekly(?) blog reviewing popular books from our youth. Tamora Pierce! Judy Blume! Paula Danziger! It makes me feel all pink and fluffy.

Not sure if you have heard of this author, but read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. The first book in the series is called "Twilight" and basically this book tells about the story of a girl who falls for a boy named Edward. The thing about Edward is that he is a vampire. There are 4 books in the series and they are all out now. I've only read the first but plan on reading more of them later. Also, try out an author called Kathy Reichs. Her books are the inspiration for a series called Bones that airs on FOX network. I read "Bones to Ashes" and could not put the book down. The main character of the book is Dr. Temperance Brennan who is a Forensic Anthropologist. She basicially studies bones to get clues about people's deaths or stuff like that. Look her up on the net and you'll find out more about the books. Reichs herself is a board-certified forensic anthropolgist so she has a very unique angle when it comes to the books. I'm reading Deja Dead right now and it's good so far. Hope work is going well. Take care. ( ... )

I love Kathy Reichs! Hoping her next one comes out soon!

I've never read the Twilight series but will definitely look out for it. Have you read any by Charlaine Harris or Mary-Janice Davidson? Neither tax the brain too much but good wacky-vampire fun :)

Oh, so with the fluffy. This is wonderful. (Small absence of Margaret Mahy though...)

PS. I'm actually writing stuff in my LJ these days if you want to friend back - I tend to have posts f-locked. :)

Cheers from Pasadena

It is rather US-centric, but there's enough nostalgia there to keep me quite happy! Sadly they seem to have stopped the column now :/

Thanks, friended back! I might write some more when I'm in NZ, but I'm way behind right now! I do still read every day though.

Cheers back from London.
