Lady-like Behaviour

What is it with some words? Some words can communicate so many subtle nuances, with just the same small group of sounds. I’ve been thinking about the word Lady. I don't mind the word Lady...unless Chris De Burgh (spelling? I can't bear to check) is singing it. "Lady in Red" is without a doubt the creepiest song EVAH.

i guess you have to take it out of context, the label comes as a term of respect an supposed position in society, like king and queen, it depends on how you use them,..unless the queen is setting in your parlor making eyes at you, and your not sure why he's there,...0.o

I feel weird being referred to as "lady", "madam"(!), "ma'am", etc. It sets off all my "someone thinks I'm 1) a grownup and 2) someone who reads fashion magazines" buttons. I'd much prefer "Hey you in the weird clothes!"

But then, anyone who reads my LJ knows I'm a mutant.
