I liked Girl With a Pearl Earring so much I reserved this at my library... I liked TGWTPE a bit better, probably since they were so similar in style. The first experience with this narrative had more impact on me. This did not dissapoint, however, it wasn't as refreshing as the first few by this author. I will read her future books eagerly

Did you read Falling Angels, also by Chevalier? Ugh. It was horrid.

I loved Pearl Earring, so now I'm not sure if I want to read this one or not...

I LISTENED to falling angels-- which was not quite as painful as reading it must have been busybooklover April 19 2004, 14:12:18 UTC
The Lady and the Unicorn is MUCH more like Girl with a Pearl Earring. No cemetaries that I can recall. Followed the comission and creation of an artists series of Tapestries. Much time is devoted to details about the concepts, the process, the symbolic meanings associated with various images, colors. It was a quick easy read similar to GWAPE.

I gave up on Angels; Bodesoda, who'd sent it to me, laughed at my journal entry -- she said she tried to warn me. Next time, I'll listen!

Then I'll try Unicorn if I come across it, since it sounds better. Whew.

Better go add it to my new list over at Cliff's site... *grin*

I would recommend it, but I wouldn't buy it. busybooklover April 19 2004, 18:04:22 UTC
Glad it was a library copy. New (hot) books are getting to cost more than they are worth with all the competitive prices in used book stores on perfectly wonderful books!
I LOVE the library!!!!!!
