Illyria had written her name in her original language on her door, underneath the English translation that had been painted there. It still looked better to her in her native tongue.
It is unclear why she's out wandering the halls. Possibly because that is simply what she does sometimes. She could be contemplating seeing if Methos was awake, though conversations with him were often difficult even if they were not arguments.
Whatever her reason, she happens upon the Doctor and stops in her tracks, considers turning right back around and going another way. But that would have been backing down from the mere thought of a challenge. So instead, she greets him almost defiantly.
The Doctor turned his head slightly to acknowledge her presense, but his eyes were still glued on the door for an extra second before he gave her his attention.
"And to you...you know, whatever exactly you are, now." Surprisingly enough, there wasn't any malice in that statement, just a statement of fact.
"Up late?" he asked, "Well, if it is late, everything seems a bit dark here, even during the day."
"Just Illyria. All other ways of calling me have lost their meaning." she replies in reponse to his greeting.
"Time has no bearing on me in the way that it does for mortals. I care not whether it is late or early or whether time simply stands still. Such things are more your concern, are they not?"
"What with being a Timelord? Yeah, I guess they do," he smiled at her, but it felt more than a little false. Too many thoughts, too many ideas. Part of him desperately missed having Rose to talk to. But, one couldn't talk to the individual to whom which their problems affect...it just didn't work that way.
"So, Just Illyria," he said, "What is keeping you up?"
