When there is a feline friend around there is always company. What's more, it is the kind of company that often results in awkward silences with other humans, but a cat just potters along with independance & no long term agenda

I gather that some of these cats in your life have now died- are others just temporarily unavailable for kitty-love? If so, Gingko could probably do with a fix of lovin'- she's being a bit of a spazz at dinner time, but otherwise is sitting on madcowmoo's orange, hot pink and blue doona cover and clashing divinely. Odin and Tess probably wouldn't object to ear scrufflings either, although you know that Moggie will probably just run away.
One of the toughest things for me to consider about the cats I love and live with, is that their lives are so much shorter than ours. And I think of annual teeth cleaning bills for three elderly cats in a couple of years time and shudder. But they carry memories of who you've been as well as who they've been, and my house would feel incomplete without them, or the next generation after they've gone.

Nope, these three are still alive & living with my mum.
AS for the others lost along the way... or flaoting around with other people... I try not to think of them.
It hurts too much.

I think I am just a tad lonely atm, is all.
