I'm looking at the week ahead and it's a swirling vortex of a crushing workload with pale wisps of insufficient sleep. It looks a little like this, but not as pretty:

Well, I quit smoking so I can't save any time there, but if I could beat off in my sleep instead of during the day I'd probably be able to finish work by lunchtime with all the time I'd save!

Thanks. Looks like tonight's no warmer, either. I'm so ready for some warmer weather.

Yes, it's not the rain for me that is the issue as the intense cold - it's affecting my life in a way that is not allowing me to sleep well, or do the things that I love to do.

Would an admin assistant be a smart thing, given that your time doing non-admin things is more valuable than the cost of an assistant?

I know that it can get much colder elsewhere, but Australia really doesn't seem to build with winter in mind as a general rule. What I wouldn't give for some energy-efficient central heating right now!

You're right about the admin assistant being a smart thing. There's an awful lot of paper-shuffling that needs to be done that takes me away from actually doing work. It's gone from seeming a ridiculous extravagance to a business imperative.

Yes, those vents that many houses have from the inner walls to the outer walls that allow all the warm air to leech out really astound me. I know that it's good in summer, but I want to paper them up in winter. Very few old houses in Australia seem to be insulated, as well.

I think that if you're really honestly not getting to real work because you're doing admin, then the admin assistant is the plan. Time to contact a recruitment agency.
