St. Andrews is the patron saint of Scotland, like St. George is to England. That's all I know about it, really.

yeah, that's as much as I was able to find out, too. I'm just wondering how it's usually celebrated and what its significance is, I mean, whether it's more like a national day or something else.

I don't know much about St. Andrew's Day either. I thought it being a national holiday would have a few celebrations as a result, but as far as I can judge, Aberdeen was pretty quiet yesterday. However, I'm merely basing this on what I saw on campus yesterday, I did not go much further ;)
