I'm sort of a fan of continuity, so I'd probably vote for waiting/not changing.
On the other hand, a lot can be said for making a clean start. When I kept a paper journal, I remember being excited when I got to the end of one and had to start a new one. I felt accomplished, having a clean slate, (how cliche) etc. Starting a new lj while keeping this one in existence so you can look back at it might be sort of like that for you.

A child may want the fanciest, latest toy, but so what? It's just an insignificant game.
