a bad case of nesting instinct (kinda)

i'm so tired of drifting through time, if not through space. this life of part-time-work-to-pay-the-rent-and-buy-food seems so pointless and dead-end. if i don't manage to get an internship for next summer, i don't have any clue what i'll be doing beyond march or maybe april. if i do get an internship, i don't know what i'll be doing beyond next ( Read more... )

one thing that may complicate matters is if you are dedicated to work on an organic farm . . . I think that those are by far a lot harder to come by than a "standard" one. Would it be worth it to just bite the bullet and contribute a bit to non-organic production so you could turn out more organic production of your own?

Not ONLY people help with knowledge, and I'm sure there are some really good books out there written on what you need and what you're interested in.

*ps- there's a horrible lack of capital "i"s

there's enough that's specific to organic farming that i wouldn't be greatly advanced by learning "conventional" methods. though, i'd take a conventional small farm over a large organic farm, depending on the specific situation (i think). but anyway, there are more organic farms out there than i think you realize. so far i've only applied to one internship... it's not a matter of finding more; it's a matter of applying to more in order to increase my chances of actually getting something.
yes, books are great, and i still learn a lot from them. but i've been book-learning nearly every day of my life, and farming just isn't one of those things that you can learn from a book and then just go do it. in this case, i'm going to learn the most by actually doing. books are supplementary.
of course there's a horrible lack of capital "i"s. this is how i write (except for academic work). get over it. :P i don't capitalize proper nouns or first-words-in-sentences either.
