What's even more maddening is the person who complains about some of their taxes going towards funding the schools. Thier reasoning is that because they don't have children in school, or children at all, they shouldn't have to pay for schools. Talk about not seeing the big picture. They could very well be denying a future doctor a decent education. A future doctor who could very well discover a new treatment for an illness Mr. or Ms. GrumpyCheapscate will contract later in life. Or, scenario two: by not giving otherwise decent kids a good education, some of these same kids may resort to a life of crime, and rob Mr. or Ms. GrumpyCheapscate's house.
Frankly, I think one of a community's first obligations is to educate its children the best they can. People shouldn't complain about younger generations if they aren't doing anything to help the younger generations.
