Ohh, I wrote a story. Well, a ficlet really.

Fandom: Brokeback Mountain

Pairing: Jack/Ennis (who else?)

Rating: PG I should think, possibly G even.

Disclaimer: The boys belong to Annie Proulx and not me and I'll give them back only slightly dirty ;-). No money made.

Summary: Ennis can't speak.

Didn’t dare say it, he didn’t think he could stand to hear the words and he knew that Jack would say them if thought Ennis wanted to hear them. “How’d I ever leave you after you said it?” he whispered, Jack went unnaturally still in his arms, “and you know I have to. I ain’t got no choice but to go back.”

Because there's the essence of the problem, in some ways. Vocalising what they feel, making it real.

Gosh girl, you write well. I do admire you. I've been trying but all I want to do is re-invent them a happy ending, dammit.

Oh, thank you, thank you! I'm really pleased that you enjoyed it. I'm an angst whore. I can't help myself, so these guys are like... well, they fit. But, do write them a happy ending! Oh please! They so deserve one and if I could think of a way that was In Character to do it I would have by now... if you notice I don't write the *end* end so we can pretend that they do sort through all their issues and get that ranch... ;-). But someone who wrote that... well, they'd be my hero! Thank you so, so much for commenting.

It's so tempting. I have the basic narrative done, and the tone, and just the bare bones of it made me cry.

But. haven't seen the film yet - going on the 30th in the West End, yes - so perhaps after that, if I can bear it.
