Wyatt Montgomery failed to protect Kendall Thomas once. He's not going to let that happen again, so he follows her into the ancient pyramid on Jarvis Nine. The smugglers she had been following trapped them inside. The only way for them to get free is to explore the inside of the pyramid, dodging the smugglers, avoiding the traps left by the ancients, and trying to resist the strange power that's drawing them closer and closer to each other.
Things are just as complicated outside the pyramid, where the smuggling ring is desperate to keep anyone else from uncovering its secrets. They've murdered already and they'll do anything to get off the planet with the stolen artifacts. No one who can stop them is safe.
This book is well balanced with engaging three dimensional characters that I really came to care about. There are a few things that are a bit predictable, mostly to do with the smugglers, but it was done in a way that the result was not as important as how they came to it, and that was not predictable.
One thing that I particularly enjoyed was the way that the three storylines - the pyramid in the past, the pyramid in the present, and outside the pyramid in the present - were woven together. I never felt as though one story was being given precedence over another, and the events and timing in the stories were tied together well. Everything flowed nicely.
Part Romance and part Science Fiction adventure, Eternal Nights combines the best of both genres, giving readers sensual love scenes, true-to-life romances, and fantastical adventures inside the pyramid. It's a delightful read that will expose fans of one genre to elements of another without overwhelming them.
