There was a common washroom at an attraction I visited in the UK. It had individual stalls on both sides with narrow floor-to-ceiling doors, rather like the stalls in the women's lounge at Macy's downtown, then there was a common wash area. It seemed like a sensible alternative.
Like you, I'd prefer to have a wall or something between my view and random dudes at urinals (it's the *random* dudes thing, really), but otherwise, no issues.
And I've shared a restroom with someone I knew was trans. No issues. And didn't understand the person I knew at the time who did have issues. B needed a place to pee. Whatever restroom she chose, someone could complain: Guys because the obviously, visibly female person was using theirs; girls because most of us knew she still had boy parts. Except that the men's room at that place was deeply nasty and the ladies' room was not, so no one who wasn't a nasty filthy boy should be forced to use that men's room.
I have had issues with straight cismen in women's restrooms at large venues. But that's a different issue. (And about, in that case, being an entitled ass and not about being a boy in the girls' room.)
I think even random dudes at urinals kind of prefer the ones with the little walls in between. Most people want privacy for the act of using the restroom. But I've seen some pretty good designs for unisex restrooms that took that into account, and I'd happily use those as long as they were kept reasonably clean.
