Make of this scene whatever you will but the fact of the matter is that the way it was written makes it nothing more than pity sex. - I am SO glad that someone other than me realised that their sex was pity sex. Someone else said to me "well, Kurt and Blaine was make up sex", to which I had to respond "make up sex is SO much better than PITY sex". Yes, I am a bitch, no, I do not care.
Not only is Finn being a complete dunce by saying he has no future- remember when Burt offered you a full time job in the place you love to work, Finn? And he said was going to turn it over to you one day? No. Okay then. - Also this. ♥
Not only is the heat of the fireplace going to cause issues as the body heats up during sexual intercourse to begin with but talk about rug burns? Her butt will undoubtedly be sore from that. Furthermore losing your virginity isn’t a comfortable experience for a girl to begin with so chalk that up as a very unpleasant and short experience as we know through canon Finn can

Admittedly, most of my friends ship Finchel but I just can't. I find them a horrible example of a 'endgame/good couple' on a television show. If people want to ship them that's fine but I don't and I never will.
Oh, agreed so much. A lot of my friends do as well but I never saw the appeal, not when they're so destructive towards each other in and out of the relationship.
What I like about this is that you pointed out issues with both characters, instead of focusing on just one. A lot of the times I see these types of anti-Finchel things (and I don't ship them, btw), they focus on either bashing Finn or Rachel, as opposed to intelligently stating why the two don't work well together. I occasionally dislike Rachel and occasionally like Finn, pretty much for all of the reasons you stated, which is why I don't ship them together. I do think they have some moments where they are good for each other, but those moments are small compared to the one's you've posted.
Basically, I agree with you and love how you presented it.
I love this post. Very insightful. Obviously, not everyone will agree, but I think you bring up some major flaws in the show's writing (which is very unfortunate). I'm so glad that you pointed out everything terrible from The First Time. I get irrationally angry whenever I think of that episode for pretty much the exact reasons you wrote down.
THANK YOU! This spells things out wonderfully from both sides as to why this pairing always seems so forced to me! And kudos for your #1 reason - the lack of apologies. Yes, Rachel has screwed up and acted badly...man I hated that part of the Christmas episode plus her trying to push him into a future he doesn't really want...but still. I love your summary of why Finn owed Rachel an apology in there somewhere. Finn is made for Lima; Rachel is made for New York...its not going to work. (In the interest of full disclosure, I should note two things: one, I ship Puckleberry; two, I'm not a fan of Finn - pretty much for reasons listed above.)
Truth be told...I have no idea. I'm not sure where Puck is bound after high school...sometimes he seems to grow beyond it while other times he is just completely mired.
Mostly though, I was commenting on Finn. He seems to enjoy what he's doing, the singing and all, but I never get a sense that he's driven towards the future unless there's a crisis.

The gifts really ruined part of who Rachel was. It made her cruel and selfish and uncaring. I have never wanted to slap her before that.
Thanks. I put a lot of time into it because I wanted to at least back up my reasons and show picture examples if I could. =)
