Thursday I found I still run to catch the movies.

Before sipping, I glance inside my 12-ounce, hexagonal, domed V8 V-Fusion (Tropical Orange) plastic bottle, and spy first one, then two formerly greedy flies rippling listlessly with the mini-wakes from the remaining 5 ounces.  I become very sad and vexed.

Meet Glenn Gould, Canadian, hypochondriac; also indisputedly one of a handful of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. To my mind, he's the best pianist of classical music; at any rate, the best I've heard. Tonight was the first major rearrangement of my room since I moved 10 months ago: the floor-lamp slid 6 feet down the wall into the corner and the Cézanne painting on the same wall floated to the adjoining wall, above the sliding closet-doors.  Now light is no longer partially obstructed by the bookshelf, and I can see the painting while laying in ( Read more... )
