So, apparently, the osterizer blender is not made to make hummus. Today, it started smoking and completely stopped working because chick peas are just too hard to blend. Conclusion: never buy an osterizer for $30 at best buy (if you want to blend things like chick peas).

did you soak the peas before you put them in the blender?

they were canned.. i figured they had been soaking for at least a year!

so do you have any good books? i have a couple if you want to trade sometime.
