I had no doubt why you were for this. Your kids are older and this has already affected your family at a guess. People are sucky sometimes.

I'm late to the cause but enthusiastic and motivated.

I will never use this word. I haven't used it in the past, so this is not a behavior change. But I will commit to not using it in the future either.

Never using it to begin with is great and commendable in it's own right.:)

Yeah, I noticed that. I guess I can understand the impulse not to use the word that is so offensive to them, but it does kind of leave them in the position of preaching to the converted.

Although I am quite sure I know what the word is, I do have a genuine question. Is it only the noun form that is so offensive, or is it also the adjective? And, if so, what is the proper term to use instead?

I believe the issue isn't what form so much as what it's being used in conjunction with. I don't have a problem saying something retarded a fire, aside from the clunkiness of the statement. The objection comes when you use it in conjunction with people, in which case using it as a noun or adjective is inappropriate. People are delayed or challenged.

I admit the page not mentioning the word any where is a bit of a hindrance, but I understand their urge.
