Stupid stuff about music and conventions

I am mad. People are pissing me off. Stop implying that our party was an SEMP. Really. That era has past. Most of the people playing at the party weren't around for most of those. Or alternately were shunned when they were happening because others didn't think them good enough or like their music. There are a couple of people still active from that ( Read more... )

I realize I have a sick sense of humor... mizzlaurajean April 12 2007, 03:40:09 UTC
....but I kind of like the SEMP reference if only because I see it as poking fun at ourselves. It's how "other people" seem to view it ( ... )

Were you party an SEMP...... mizzlaurajean April 12 2007, 03:43:51 UTC

I'm not sure what traditional means either.

I just know that I dislike excluding people and making bad feelings unnecessarily. And it seems when you invoke SEMP you automatically ruffle feathers. I don't like ruffling feathers on anything but birds.

I don't blame you, your party was wonderful, the music was great and so were the people. Thank you and Laura Jean and everyone else involved in creating it.

See above. My goal wasn't to exclude or divide with this party. It was to have fun and combine some interests. In my head using SEMP implies some level of snotty or elitism that was lacking on my part.

It's fine to use whatever you like. I'm done picking at the phrase I just had to vent.:)

I, for one, understand that. I think a lot of this foofaraw is old business, stirred up by a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings over the weekend - not really about your party.
