Vizzini's Rule: Chapter Sixty-Nine, Part Four
“I know I’ve said this before,” Jack said, raising his eyes again and crooking his mouth into the little half-smile that made Ianto’s heart beat faster. “And I’m sure you’ll give me reason to say it again, but you really are amazing, Ianto Jones.”

Ianto laughed. He pulled Jack up and rolled them so he was on top. He kissed Jack soundly and then reached into the lower drawer of his nightstand where he kept a bunch of small towels. He grabbed one and then proceeded to clean them off as best he could. He tossed the towel on the floor and returned to the comforting circle of Jack’s arms.

Jack sighed as soon as Ianto laid back down and pulled him close. “Still tired,” he said with a yawn.

“So sleep some more,” Ianto suggested.

“Will you stay?”

“If you want me.”

“Always want you,” Jack murmured kissing Ianto’s neck.

Ianto snorted at that comment.

“I do!” Jack said, tightening his arms around Ianto as he spooned behind him, their favorite sleeping arrangement . “Even when I’m being an asshole and don’t show it, I still want you. Why do you think I was such a prick to that Jamie guy?”

“He said you were warning him off,” Ianto said.

Jack chuckled. “Gorgeous and perceptive? I knew he was trouble. Ooof!” he gasped as Ianto elbowed him in the ribs.

“Sod off. He’s one of my oldest friends and he’s not remotely interested in me like that.”

It was Jack’s turn to snort. “Oh please,” he said with a roll of his eyes.

“He’s not!” Ianto protested. “He’s got a boyfriend. And if he was interested in me, why would he try to make me flirt with everyone at the bar who had a pulse?”

“He what?” Jack growled, hugging Ianto tighter.

“Yeah,” Ianto said, “he said he wanted to see how many numbers I could get so he could tell you the next time he saw you.”

Jack laughed sleepily. “Oh God, gorgeous, perceptive and wicked. Are you sure you’re not attracted to him? I think I am!”

“Stuff it,” Ianto grumbled, closing his eyes. He felt Jack place a line of kisses up the back of his neck, finishing with the soft skin just behind his ear.

“I’m sorry I got jealous,” Jack whispered.

“I’m not,” Ianto whispered back. “It was the first sign I had in days that you still cared about me at all.”

Jack’s sigh ruffled Ianto’s hair. “Not caring about you will never be the problem, Yan. Remember that. I… care about you too much sometimes. It messes with my mind, makes me do stupid things.”

“Like what?” Ianto murmured, draping his arm over Jack’s hip.

“Oh, you know,” Jack said airily, his tone telling Ianto that he was done with serious conversation. “Chaining you up in the archives to keep you safe.”

“You’ve never done that!”

“But I’ve been thinking about it,” Jack whispered menacingly.

Ianto chuckled and turned his head slightly to capture Jack’s mouth in a soft kiss. “You’re babbling. Go to sleep.”

“Yes sir,” Jack teased. He kissed Ianto again and then lay back on the pillow. It was only a matter of minutes before he was sound asleep again.

Ianto lay awake for some time, listening to Jack’s heavy breathing as he pondered the revelations of their conversation. “Always want you.” “Not caring isn’t the problem.” And then the most mind-boggling of it all: The 51st fucking Century, Ianto mused. He thought Captain Jack Harkness was a mystery before, what happened when the answers only led to more questions?

When Ianto woke up, the setting sun was streaming through his open bedroom door and he was starving. He guessed by the light it was around 3:30. No wonder I’m hungry, he thought as he rolled onto his back. He was greeted by the sight of Jack, his head propped up on his hand, staring down at him with a look of such raw need in his eyes that all thoughts of food vanished from Ianto’s mind.

He swallowed and whispered, “Hi.”

“Hi,” Jack said.

“Been up long?” Ianto asked inanely, unable to look away.

Jack shrugged with one shoulder. “A little while.”

“You still tired?”

“Naw, I feel better now. A week with no sleep just isn’t a good idea, I guess.”

“I believe the phrase is ‘no duh’ Jack,” Ianto said.

Jack chuckled. He caressed Ianto’s chest, running his fingers through the fine hairs covering his pecs. Ianto closed his eyes, feeling like a spoiled cat and wishing he knew how to purr. When his hand stilled, Ianto glanced up to find Jack staring at him with that same hungry yearning in his eyes.

“What?” he asked softly.

“I…” Jack’s voice trailed off.

Ianto reached up to caress Jack’s face. “What is it?”

Jack grasped Ianto’s hand and turned slightly to kiss his palm. He smiled at the small whimper that escaped Ianto and slid his lips down to kiss the inside of his wrist as well. He returned Ianto’s hand to his cheek and sighed. “I need - I know I have no right to ask you for anything right now, but I… I need to show you how sorry I am… that I do still care, that I never stopped.”

“Oh?” Ianto said a slow smile spreading across his face. “And how do you propose to do that?”

Jack grinned and leaned down to kiss Ianto. “I need you, I need to be inside you,” he whispered. “I need to make you come so hard you forget your own name.”

Ianto swallowed again. “Well,” he said in a voice rough with passion, “if you think it will help…”

“Oh, it will,” Jack promised in his very best ‘come fuck me’ voice.
