The Sea After a Storm: Chapter Thirty-Nine
Previously on The Sea After a Storm: Tosh took Tommy home for his last night in the present and Jack surprised Ianto with a confession...

Jack paused, waiting until Ianto raised his eyes. Jack held his gaze, his voice soft but full of meaning, matching the intensity in his blue eyes.

"And I wouldn't change that for the world."

Ianto froze. He didn't move, he didn't blink, he would have sworn that his heart stopped beating altogether. He doesn't mean... he couldn't... but... Ianto couldn't deny the truth in Jack's eyes as he stared into the clear blue depths. All of Jack's armour was gone in that instant and all Ianto could see was... Jack.

His breath hitched and suddenly everything was in motion again. Ianto reached out to carefully cradle Jack's head in his hand even as he leaned in to crush their lips together. Jack kept staring at Ianto as he kissed back, as if he was looking for an answer to some question in Ianto's eyes. Whatever he saw must have satisfied him because he moaned softly against Ianto's mouth and let his eyes fall shut when Ianto cupped his cheek. Ianto felt Jack's arms slide around him, Jack's hands clutching at his shoulders. The kiss slowed but deepened as Ianto poured every drop of his passion into Jack and Jack returned it measure for measure.

Jack brought his hands up to cup Ianto's face as well. He stroked Ianto's cheek and broke the kiss to murmur Ianto's name. He tugged Ianto off the desk and into his lap, capturing Ianto's mouth again as soon as he was settled. But when Jack slipped his hands under Ianto's jacket and began to tug at his shirt, Ianto shook his head and tried to stand up without interrupting the kiss.

"What?" Jack murmured, his lips following Ianto's like a magnet as he stood.

"Not... here... bed... need you..." Ianto panted between kisses, tugging Jack towards the manhole that led to Jack's quarters.

Jack pulled him close, wrapping his arms around Ianto and kissing him deeply. He pulled back and kissed Ianto on the forehead. "Lemme just grab my coat," he said softly. "We can head back to your place and pick this up right where we left off."

"No!" Ianto said forcefully, tightening his arms as Jack tried to pull away.

"No?" Jack asked with a frown.

Ianto sighed in exasperation. "No, not my place. Here," he said, kissing Jack. "Now," he said, kissing Jack again. "If we leave there'll be a traffic accident or a weevil attack or my flat will have burned down. Something will get in the way again."

Jack chuckled. "Sounds like you think the universe is conspiring against us," he teased, running his hands over Ianto's back.

"It feels like it," Ianto grumbled as he took another backwards step towards the hole in the floor.

Jack held Ianto still for another long, deep kiss and then let his arms drop to his sides. When Ianto opened his mouth to protest, Jack just grinned and spun him around. He pressed his body against Ianto's back and whispered in his ear. "I just didn't want to you fall down the manhole."

Ianto laughed and pushed back against Jack, rubbing a little. "Good thinking, Captain. We wouldn't want to have to call Owen to come set a broken leg."

"That would most definitely put a damper on the mood," Jack replied tilting his hips to nudge Ianto forward.

"Now who's in a hurry?" Ianto asked. He jumped when Jack smacked his arse and crossed to the ladder in three quick steps. When he reached the bottom, he loosened his tie and started to shrug out of his jacket.

"Hey, now!" Jack exclaimed, skipping the last several sets of rungs to land next to Ianto with a thump. "That's one of my favourite parts."

"What is?"

Jack pressed Ianto against the ladder and slowly untied his tie. When he had it unknotted, Jack wrapped one end around each fist and then tugged, forcing Ianto to lean into him. "This is one of my favourite parts," he whispered in a husky voice just before he took Ianto's mouth in a bruising kiss.

Ianto leant back against the ladder and held on to Jack for dear life as he tried to give as good as he got. At some point, Jack slid Ianto's tie from his collar and dropped it on the floor, giving up his handle in favour of running his hands over Ianto's body. Ianto groaned softly as one of the rungs dug into his back, making Jack break the kiss.

They looked at one another for a moment and then both laughed softly.

"Something about this feels oddly familiar," Jack observed with another chuckle.

Ianto nodded and his smile faded a bit. "After the Beacons. That night... God, what was it? Almost a year ago?"

"Seems longer somehow, even without the year that never happened," Jack said ruefully, making Ianto nod again. "Why that night?" he asked suddenly. "What made you kiss me?"

"Lots of things..." His cheeks flushing, Ianto reached up to trace the curve of Jack's lower lip. "But in the moment, it... it was your mouth," he whispered. He gasped as Jack kissed the tip of his finger and then drew it in, sucking gently. "Your lips... I had to know how... how they'd feel... I wanted to know if you taste as good as you smell."

Jack let Ianto's finger go with another kiss and leant in to nuzzle Ianto's cheek. "51st Century pheromones," he murmured, his scent intensifying as Ianto shifted to press his face into Jack's neck.

"So you keep saying," Ianto mumbled against smooth skin. He slowly kissed his way up Jack's neck, taking his time. He nipped at Jack's earlobe and then followed the edge of his ear with his tongue, making Jack moan. His mouth slid across Jack's cheek, as if seeking its mate of its own accord.

When their lips met, the fire ignited again. With twin groans of desire, Jack pushed Ianto's jacket to the floor while Ianto shoved the tan braces from Jack's shoulders. Their fingers flew over buttons and soon two dark blue shirts landed in the growing pile of clothes. Jack got distracted by Ianto's bare chest, hampering Ianto's efforts to remove his white t-shirt by bending to capture one hard nipple with his mouth while his fingertips teased the other. Ianto groaned and let his head fall back, not caring that he hit another rung. His hands tangled in Jack's hair as he leant against the ladder and lost himself in the feel of Jack's lips and teeth and tongue on his skin. He whimpered when Jack's teeth closed over his nipple and tugged.

"God, you have no idea what that sound does to me," Jack whispered hoarsely, sliding across Ianto's chest to subject his other nipple to the same treatment.

Ianto laughed breathily and bent forward to run his hands over Jack's back. "I know just what it does," he whispered back. He pulled Jack's t-shirt up and forced Jack to stand as well so he could tug it over his head.

Jack pulled Ianto into his arms as soon as his hands were free, their lips meeting in a blistering kiss. Somehow they managed belts, trousers, pants, and shoes without breaking the kiss for more than a second or two and fell onto Jack's narrow bed. The urgency that had driven Ianto since the kiss at Jack's desk seemed to kick into high gear. Ianto pulled Jack on top of him, thrusting his hips up as they strained against each other. He almost cried with relief when Jack fumbled for the bottle of lubricant on his nightstand. He did cry out when Jack slid two scantly lubed fingers into his arse.

"Ianto?" Jack asked, stilling his hand immediately. "God, did I hurt you?"

Ianto shook his head, breathing shakily through his nose. "No, no," he assured Jack. "Just... just surprised me, is all. It's fine." He groaned in frustration when Jack slowly pulled out of him. "It's fine," he repeated. "It's just been a while... well, you know how long it's been."

"But I thought - " Jack blushed, something Ianto rarely saw. "Sorry, it's none of my business," he said quickly as he focussed on opening the bottle of lube again.

Ianto's heart clenched when he realised Jack was imagining Brendan topping him. "Jack," Ianto said softly. When Jack refused to meet his eyes, Ianto leant up on his elbows and said his name again. "Jack! We didn't... not like that... I only... Jack, look at me."

When Jack finally met his gaze, Ianto reached up to stroke his cheek.

"Just you," Ianto whispered. "Only you."

Jack stared at him for a long moment and Ianto could see the emotion shining in Jack's blue eyes and he knew, right in that instant, he knew that Jack loved him. Jack might never say the words out loud, but Ianto didn't need him to. He knew.

Jack dropped the bottle of lube and cupped Ianto's face in his hands. His eyes still burning with unspoken love, he slowly lowered his mouth to Ianto's and pressed him back into the mattress, covering Ianto's body with his own. The kiss was long and deep and soft and hard all at once and said everything that Jack couldn't bring himself to say aloud.

When he finally raised his head, Jack looked drunk with desire. "Turn over," he ordered in a ragged whisper.

"I want to see you," Ianto argued, tightening his arms around Jack's neck.

Jack smiled and kissed 'his' freckle on Ianto's nose. "Turn over," he said again, more gently. As soon as Ianto obeyed, Jack covered his body again. He nuzzled the back of Ianto's neck, kissing the soft skin behind his ear as he whispered, "No more hurrying. No rushing. I'm gonna take my time getting you ready and then we're gonna do this right. I never want to hurt you again, Ianto. Never."

"You didn't," Ianto protested trying to turn his head to look at Jack.

Jack raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you saying you don't want me to rim you until you come?"

Ianto's eyes got big and he swallowed hard, suddenly unable to speak.

"That's what I thought," Jack said silkily. "Now get comfortable."

There didn't seem to be anything to say to that but, "Yes, sir."
