My grey sky summary

So I've come to accept the fact that technicolor foliage is not going to play a part in this month's autumn. The leaves have been mostly turning brown around the edges and falling straight to the ground. And then November, the month of pessimism (this year will have the added drawback of not having Christmas to look forward to - pessimism, indeed ( Read more... )

I really want to be the Virgin Mary (complete with exposed and very sacred heart) for Halloween but have a feeling my bank account won't permit me to spend it in jolly Montreal. Boo. Did you spend your Halloween in Rimouski last year? Was it kinda/sorta/somewhat "fun"? Er...on second thought...weren't you in Bic or something like that? Oyeeyoy...if I have to stay I just hope I don't run into annoying-Saskatchewan-girl. Perhaps I'll just cozy up with my knitting and watch scary movies en francais. Want another scarf?

It's true, I was in Bic! One of Pierre's friends lived there and had a party and I drank WAY too much free sangria. Then we went to Sens Unique and I could not dance at all. The Virgin Mary costume sounds awesome, although it's kind of disappointing to wear a fabulous costume when you're living somewhere you don't really want to be. But if you decide to do so, you should cut out a yellow halo to wear around your head. That would be great.

Maybe it's simply due to having lived in Jtown, where they're OBSESSED with the changing of the seasons, (and how only Japan has four distinct seasons, and so on) but I've really been noticing how attractive Victoria has been this fall. Is Montreal always lacking in this area? If so, how crappy!

Last year, Rimouski (as was much of rural Quebec) was absolutely beautiful, due to the high incidence of maple trees. I was expecting Montreal be as well, but alas, no. I think maybe the hot (27 degrees!) weather we had earlier this month may have soured things. Anyway, that is my biggest disappointment in Montreal thus far.

Biggest disappointment? Really? That's not an exaggeration or lie? You sir, are living the dream.

Okay, okay, so the leaves were beautiful today, when I decided to walk home with the co-workers. Most of them were on the ground, but colorful leaves on the ground are still colourful leaves.

As for disappointments, there may be bigger ones, but I'll keep telling myself it's the leaves, because when one starts thinking about disappointments, it all goes downhill!
