So I finally had my one-to-one with my Boss yesterday. I'm definitely being made redundant on Christmas Eve. Technically, it's December 31 but Friday's my last day. I get to keep my home PC until January 4 - then I'm expected to hand it back, along with my mobile phone ( Read more... )

That is teh suck! Especially on x-mas those heartless fucktards. Were I you I would tell them where to shove the PC and the phone. They're are the ones who should have been budgeting! Laying off people makes the bottom line look rosy however, it is so detrimental a company's future.

The PC and phone may be a bit more essential than trasnsportation. What about public transpo? I know it can be a major pain, is it an alternative? Perhaps a little pampering is what you need. Also x-mas gifts need not break you remember, it's the thought that counts! ;)

The timing does indeed suck however if it is a small company and they lost a couple major clients then they could be in deep trouble. They should have had you working those clients then they might not have lost them! What are the rules in England for layoffs? Do they have to pay severance?

Yeah for you and sensible money management. I am amazed at the level of credit card debt that some people take on.

Oh well, Merry Christmas I guess!

The lay off stinks, the timing even more so.. but have experienced that too often .

Do not let it spoil your well deserved holidays.. Its the cmpany that looses you, and you will get another, maybe better, oppertunity.

Good luck, and best wishes..

Sorry about the job, especially around the holidays, but no time is a good time! Despite the bad news I hope you still have a beautiful Christmas filled with a lot of love and happiness.
