Your plan is long-term. You need short-term goals to reach your long-term plan. Plan for things that will GET you the better job, the vespa, the lover. What can you do RIGHT NOW to bring yourself to all these things?

Also, start small, with the ones that are relatively easy. Start eating better and start recording. Quit smoking. Those ones aren't dependent on other things to happen.

Most of all, good luck!

If you're really looking for Cubase software, download it.

I don't know if your keyboard is a MIDI controller or not... but if not, the CME UF8 88-key hammer action MIDI controller is the best deal out there. Something like 400 or 500 USD.

Best of luck to you.

Chris, Gary's friend.

Also, if you have the cash to fork out for a computer, I'd say VisionDAW.

They're rackmount and turnkey! Sexy, but expensive, 3 internal HDD slots, with upto 1.16TB of storage. You'd be sexy styling with that.

Either way, get the MIDI controller first, just download some audio programs for the time being. You don't want to shell all that money out on software at first. Just get a pro audio card (I'd say an M-Audio or if you have the money RME Hammerfall, M-Audio 24/96 is cheaper and does the same job) At least you can make music instead of having all the software and no equipment. Who cares if it's a little illegal, the music business is expensive unless you go corporate. By the time you ARE ready to record/put out your own stuff, you would have already have mastered the programs/have experience with them and all you have to do is pay for them in the end.

Or say, if you had a friend that was an electronic musician with a cracked copy of the newest Cubase (SX3) who happened to post on your livejournal about it, you could always ask him instead of spending $350...

I make to do lists often now. I don't look at them, but when I do come across them, I look back and can actually check off the ones that have been done. It's all about prioritization (if that is a word) and as long as you realize what needs or wants of the things that potentially will get done, you can do it. Lack of motivation and procrastination fails me bitterly to do these things.
From the good words of both Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider: "You can do it!"

-actually have money is not a plan, it's a direct result from a better job, and quitting smoking. So cross that off your list.

Of coarse, your going to need that money if you plan on eating better. Plus, there's the computer, software, and synthesizers to buy. Don't even think about getting a vespa because you'll need your licence and registration which costs and costs again in gas, maintenence, insurance, and if you plan on falling in love you will never see green in your wallet again. But the good news is since you can't plan on falling in love (it just happens), you can cross that off your list too.

See? Two down, 11 to go. This is easy!
