My Dad's story...

This is all in the public domain, and every public library in NZ, whether I like it or not. It might as well be here. My mother and my grandparents both disagree with it. I know my Uncle had editting rights. As a friend of his said to me in March, when she and I talked about it, if he had anything to do with it, its accurate. Notes in italics ( Read more... )

I haven't heard of this book but it looks interesting, is Alan or Bruce your Father?

Actually I do recall you saying now your father had died when you were a child. God I can't imagine how hard that was on you having him commit suicide on your 5th birthday {{{Megan}}}
Goodness lady you've had some pain in your life.

It makes 'Jim and Ileene' out to be quite selfless and matyrish doesn't it. Poor them, with little mention of your mother or you and your brothers pain, little mention of you two at all, and you two will of been the ones this effected and hurt the most.
Bruce at his side through all the tough stuff while your mum took the 'easy' option and asked him to leave. I'd be spitting nails if I was her after reading that.

She was, believe me. Its not entirely balanced, its a book about his side of the family after all. My view was that there were rights and wrongs on both sides and it never was a marriage made in heaven I suspect. But mostly he was at fault, no one else could make him take his meds and no one else could stop him that day.

Megan, I didn't know any of this. I'm stunned, and more in awe of the strength you have to deal with the unhappiness life has handed you.

You have my admiration, girl, not just my sympathy.
