A Few Days in Brief

We're going to try and make up the deficit in the journal using a rare tool: brevity. I'm expected to write tightly at work, and I sure don't do it here. So, I'm going to keep everything to a paragraph of historical details or less. There may be more allowance for opinion and side stuff, but I need sleep and don't need to discuss the relative ( Read more... )

??? A gerund is a verbal noun, similar to a present participle in its creation but taking a noun's place in a sentence, while the present participle is part of a verb construction.

Your contruction is ambiguous as to whether you are referring to your above list of words as the gerund forms or the nouns they are based off, but the gerund forms would be "icing," "hammering," "belting," "topping" or "tipping". As gerunds you would more likely be talking about cake decorating than hockey, however.
