and of course I'm biased, but Bard doesn't necessarily get better. I made one or two amazing friends there - who incidentally loved it - but people either love it or hate it. I never quite settled in - kept trying to make it all work - after two years I still wasn't sure if I just wasn't giving it a chance (is it me or the environment). After I went to Smith I concluded that it must have been the environment after all- because I wasn't miserable there. I was happier both academically and socially. Like you I am queer and on the geeky side. You'd be in very good company.
