Science Presentation

Today I presented a lesson on desertification for science class, and there was some interesting feedback regarding my manner of speaking. Some of my classmates liked my precise, measured tone; the prof, on the other hand, thinks I need to loosen up a lot. She said I needed to smile more. I've found that kids respond to humour and other types of approaches, so it's always good to switch it up. Once you have been teaching for a while you will find your own style and what works for you. It's always good to throw in a joke every now and then but at the same time you still want that structured environment where you've earned their respect. It's a fine line.
