A friend of mine is considering upgrading to a DSLR.  My opinion is that a point and shoot is just fine, especially when it makes the difference between getting the shot or not.

awwwwwwwwesome shots!!!!! Agreed DSLR no good at jobs, unless you just want to sit on the truck or are specifically there to take photos. With me it's more I want to develop myself as a photographer, I want to increase the quality of my photos. And a DSLR offers that. Just with details, and having more control. Useless for happy snaps, priceless for the kinda stuff I wanna get in to. I really want to take better shots of birds. Those little buggers are HARD to photo with a point and shoot - gimme a DSLR with a great zoom lens and I'll be GOLDEN! Once I learn to use it, anyway ;-)
