Room 402; Saturday Evening.

Dec 29, 2007 18:27

Who would have figured that a week of almost nothing but visiting and casually parying with people (and perhaps a shift or two out of the pure hell of it at Empire) could be so damn exhausting? Tossing his dufflebag of clothes and a few acquired presents (mostly art supplies and books) into a corner, A.J. was immdiately drawn to his bed, flopping ( Read more... )

A.J.'s mouth gaped a little bit, about ready to argue Beauty's complaint, but, for the most part, it had worked, didn't it? And he had the bag and could ignore it for a much better topic. "Thanks," he made sure to say, though, as he zipped it open and sorted through the collection of laundry from the week that he really needed to get around to washing, a bunch of CDs, and then, finally, worked his way toward where some still wrapped presents were waiting.

It was a good thing that he mostly hadn't gotten anything fragile for anyone.

"Here it is," he said, with accomplishment, as he located brightly wrapped present labeled with Beauty's name and handed it over to him. "I'm probably breaking about, like, fifty million time travel rules by giving you something made in my century, but, whatever, I can't do any more damage that the whole you being here thing. Besides, I totally already gave Mark a whole list of bands to watch out for for next year, so I'm already guilty."

Beauty had only been teasing with her remark, so she'd probably have been horrified to think she'd made A.J. think she was really complaining.

But it didn't much matter, because she spent about three seconds oohing over the bright wrapping paper before she tore into it to see what was inside.

"Oh. Oh, A.J. It's Arthurian, isn't it? It looks wonderful. And I don't care about any silly time rules. What harm is a book going to do?"

She turned it over in her hands several times, and then threw her arms around A.J.'s neck and kissed him soundly.

Well, A.J. was going to attempt to answer at least Beauty's first question, grinning as he waited for her to finish gushing and tell her that, yeah, it was Arthurian (he thought) and that he knew she'd like it (knew because, after telling Corey a little about Beauty and her personality and the things she'd like, she'd been very insistent and positive that it would be a good choice, really, he should trust her because, well, didn't his friend just sound a lot like her and she knew what sorts of things she liked, only strengthening A.J. belief that the two of them had to be related somewhere along the line if Beauty's sister wasn't evidence enough), but, there Beauty was, throwing anything he could possibly have to say right out the window with a kiss like that, and A.J. was definitely not going to interrupt a kiss for something like that.

Nope. Not going to interrupt that for almost anything.

When Beauty drew back, she was blushing brightly, embarrassed by her forwardness. But some thanks just couldn't be adequately expressed in words.

"I love it," she breathed. "Maybe I could read some to you sometime, while you're painting."

Eyes still closed and mouth still slightly open as though in anticipation for more, it seemed that A.J. was a little more than reluctant to admit that the kiss was over. But the moment passed, and he blinked a bit, snapped his jaw shut, and turned a little red himself. He cleared his throat, smiling lightly. "Well, don't tell me you love it until after you read it," he warned, "but you know I'd be pretty okay with that being the method that you read it."

He was also thinking that he'd be pretty okay with more of those kisses, but he wasn't going to say that part.

"I'm pretty sure that if it came from you, I'll love it no matter what," Beauty admitted softly, dropping her eyes to the book where it lay in her lap.

She was really happy to have A.J. back. And now that it was all settled and understood that she adored the gift and had permission to read it to him, she was kind of keen on the idea of another kiss as well.

This one wasn't quite so bold as the first, but it was sweeter.

[ooc: Poor kids will have to wait for more kisses, though, as I am off to bed now. SP yayz!]

Bold. Sweet. It didn't really matter to A.J., so long as it was kissing Beauty. Still, he returned it in kind, although he was a little surprised that when he was thinking of kisses, he got kisses. Being with his old group of friends had him back into thinking that that didn't happen very often. He leaned lightly into it, drawing a hand up to brush against Beauty's cheek before he drew back, only slightly, just mere inches...no, centimeters...away to catch his breath. The much needed intake of air was exhaled again with lightly spoken words, "I missed you."

And he moved in to take care of the fact that they weren't kissing at the moment.

[[ yay SP! Sleep well! ]]

It was probably a lot easier for A.J. to get kisses whenever he thought about them, when he was spending his time with someone who did a fair bit of thinking about kissing him.

Beauty was just happy that going back to his old home hadn't given A.J. any second thoughts about how he felt about her. She opened her mouth to reply, but her words were lost in the next kiss, and Beauty decided she had more interesting things to do than talk anyway. Pushing the book off to the side where it wouldn't get damaged, she let her fingers wander up into A.J.'s hair.
