{Could you will yourself not to dream about something? Jace was determined to try. To think about anything else but her, anything that might prevent those dreams from being broadcast to a network of strangers... and Alec.}

{It almost worked, completely.}

{Almost, but not quite.}

[Just as dryly]

It's one messed up life.

That's probably a requirement for being a citizen here.

What a fine society they're looking to build.

[He's not quite sure how to respond. Mostly he's frustrated and worried and anxious that this could possibly be a memory from after he fell off the ship and he wasn't there to help his parabatai.]

Why are you always so suicidal, even in your dreams?

Isn't that more of a lifestyle?

I think the line between hobbies and life styles is a little blurred for our kind.

[ There's a fine line between seeing yourself in someone's dreams. That usually invokes a strange sense of pleasure or pride. However, it's a completely different matter when your worst fears, your worst traits, are broadcast to the world. No, what matters most is that you see yourself for what you really are, as if you're watching a movie.

So it's natural that Simon's stomach knots, and a sudden way of asphyxiation cascades over him. Something tells him that no, this can't just be a nightmare, it has to be partially true. And that's what makes it horrific.

So before he can even get a word out, maybe even an utterance or a look, he's quickly canceling the call -- it was a stupid move in the first place -- in favor of clearing both his mind, and his stomach. He's not ready to face this brutal side of himself yet. Not to others. Not to Jace.

[Hearing the click, he glances over at the Dreamberry, and stares at it for a long moment. Seeing as how he already heard from Alec, he has the sinking sensation he knows exactly who just rang.]

[He doesn't ring back.]
