After all my christmas presents, I have discovered that it really doesn't matter quite so much that I have no money to go do anything. I've got more than enough entertainment until I get my next 'free to splurge a little' paycheck.

My to do list is as follows:

To Read:
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
1776 by David McCullough
Are We Rome? by Cullen ( Read more... )

stargate sg1, christmas loot, les mis, books, les miz, movies, stargate atlantis

Ha. Les Miserables will last you until spring. :P I started reading it in high school, but I had to give it back to the guy I was borrowing it from because he wanted to finish it, so I only got maybe three-fifths of the way through, or so.

(Victor Hugo tells stories the way I tell stories: huge contextual explanation that's only relevant by a thread, then plot. Which is why I love him. :P)

I started reading it awhile back, but gave up because the library wouldn't let me renew it anymore.

That looooooooooong digression about Waterloo almost did me in.

He's still better than Charles Dickens, though. To the best of my knowledge, Dickens has written exactly ONE readable book, and that's Tale of Two Cities. Everything else sucks. Hugo has at least two because I love Hunchback of Notre Dame as well.

Honestly, why would a library even have Les Miserables? No human being could possibly finish it in what they'd consider a reasonable amount of time. :P

Yeah, I'm still not done Great Expectations. Somebody spoiled the ending for me, and I lost my impetus for reading it....

I know, right?

Ha! I lost interest in Great Expectations right around the third page. But I had to slog through it anyway because it was a school assignment. I hated Pip and Estella by the end of that book.
