After all my christmas presents, I have discovered that it really doesn't matter quite so much that I have no money to go do anything. I've got more than enough entertainment until I get my next 'free to splurge a little' paycheck.

(Victor Hugo tells stories the way I tell stories: huge contextual explanation that's only relevant by a thread, then plot. Which is why I love him. :P)

That looooooooooong digression about Waterloo almost did me in.
He's still better than Charles Dickens, though. To the best of my knowledge, Dickens has written exactly ONE readable book, and that's Tale of Two Cities. Everything else sucks. Hugo has at least two because I love Hunchback of Notre Dame as well.

Yeah, I'm still not done Great Expectations. Somebody spoiled the ending for me, and I lost my impetus for reading it....

Ha! I lost interest in Great Expectations right around the third page. But I had to slog through it anyway because it was a school assignment. I hated Pip and Estella by the end of that book.
