Chiquita charged in terror investigation - Really? This should not come as a surprise to ANYONE. NO ONE AT ALL.

OMG. International fruit companies in Central and South America have been doing crap like this for ages. I doubt this is going to actually change anything, but maybe the more the public knows, the more things could change.

Wow, not even bananas are sacred. It makes sense, though - who would suspect fruit?

Way back in college in a Mesoamerican anthropology class, I wrote a paper on international fruit companies. They are atrocious scum - horrific human rights abuses, price fixing, environmental damage. It really makes me sick.

that makes me wish that Sonja would eat fruit other than bananas. so far, that's the only one I can usually get her to eat.

Dole and United Fruit = the source of much evil in Central America. (Often backed by the US govt.) I'm glad that something was done, though I'm sure the $25m fine is a drop in the bucket in comparison to their profits.

Exactly. They have caused so much destruction and trouble and death there.
