we lost the apartment. i have no idea why or how.
he didn't even check any of our references. just called to say he decided to rent it to someone else.
what the fuck else can we do to improve our chances?
this is so frustrating!

That's bogus. Had you signed a lease with him? Anything in writing?

man, he's still a chump.

well, at least you get to have that "YES, we got an apartment!!" feeling more than once, right? I'm thinking you'll find something.
What a pain though.

Make crap up about how you love nature and need a garden and crap. Make lotsa eye contact.People like people who like nature. Except me; I hate nature lovers. and 'sobers'. Say stuff like "we both work a lot and so we are in bed (together, as lesbians!)early, is it pretty quite here most nights?" Tell them you are saving up to go to school - show drive and stability. Stop dressing like a hobo. heh.

I thought you said you put down a deposit? Or was that another place? That deposit should hold it--that's what a deposit is. I am so sorry this place fell through. I hope you find something else soon and the landlord is actually decent enough to stick to their word. -summer

we did give them a deposit check but we hadn't signed the lease yet.

well is he giving your money back? anonymous October 6 2005, 15:21:48 UTC
that is still what the deposit IS. it holds the apartment for you and puts your name on it. the lease would be taken care of after all the paperwork has gone through and you've been approved. but unless there's something wrong with your references or credit history your deposit holds that apartment for you. i am really ticked off for you.
