TUTORIAL 3: CHARLIZE THERON

Apr 27, 2005 22:46

Requirements: Photoshop
Info: Desaturation, light texture, and gradients.

I originally started out doing a tutorial on desaturation, but then I realized that there wasn't much to go on about (and since it was raining outside), so I just made an icon and did a tutorial on it.

NOTE: When I talk about adding a gradient, text, or ANYTHING, assume ( Read more... )

Beautiful. And you don't even have to use the light texture if you don't want to :) Too bad I suck at multi-pic icons, I almost never get the placement right. Gah, still saving because the tut is awesome :)

I have to admit, I'm quite fond of light textures. Like really, really fond. lol. I don't think you "suck" at multi-picture icons - this is actually the second one that I've made using smaller pictures, hehe. I'm not even going to tell you to practice, because you don't need practice to make these sorts of icons, really. :)

Hee. Thanks, and I guess you're right about the 'no practice' thing - it all depends on the picture anyways :)

What you want to is copy the selection and paste it into a new layer instead of trying to move it. So when you've selected the area you want, right click, and choose the option "Layer via copy", and it'll automatically post it into the icon as a new layer. If you want to rotate it, copy the layer first, open a new document, and then move the layer from your icon to the new document. Only thing is that instead of "moving" it from one document to the other, Photoshop will just copy it into the new document. So when you've finished rotating and doing whatever you want to the strip, you'll have to delete the area that you "layered via copy" on the original icon (if you want to, that is).

Phew! Sorry about writing a novel! I hope it was clear for you. If not, let me know and I can make a pictorial explanation. :)
