Attending the Messiah sing-along at the Kennedy Center has been among the "things I want to do in DC" since I've moved here. For the past two years I've been unable to even attempt to attend b/c the concert conflicted with when I was going home for Xmas

What you said sort of echoed what Charles, our classical music critic said. I asked Heather about the review, and told her that my inclination was that a preview was definnitely needed, a review I wasn't sure. She said that coverage of both was too much for one event, and that the preview was better for our readership.

Charles later said I shouldn't have even ran it by her and that he reviews one-time stuff all the time. Oh well. I already told Kennedy Center we weren't reviewing so it's moot, as you say. But maybe next year we'll review, since at that point we'll already have told the readership last year about the performance, the standing in line drill, etc. I'm still skeptical about how much a review on DCist captures the scene of a concert, but that may be more an issue of bad writing than an inherent problem with the concept.

I'm blanking on what my least fave phrase is, though, hehe.
