"Mum?" called Bill as he stepped into the Burrow. He heard nothing but for the soft wind chimes in the front garden before shutting the door behind him. Pulling off his summer cloak, Bill held it in his hand as he wandered through the sitting room and kitchen before turning and heading up the rickety stairs.
He had wanted to talk to her about possibly coming to Shell Cottage next week for dinner, per Fleur's suggestion, and had decided to stop by rather than send an owl. The house seemed empty, but he knew his mother could easily be putting laundry away, especially given that she had four of her children and Harry still taking up residence.
"Mum?" he called again, stopping abruptly outside of Percy's room when he caught sight of his younger brother. Percy snapped his gaze away from the book he had been reading and adjusted his glasses as they sized each other up warily. Bill gripped his cloak tightly, trying to keep his voice neutral. "Hey, Percy. Is mum around?"
