The gathering for his birthday was more than Harry could have asked for. He had spent way too many birthdays with the Dursleys imagining the celebration and gifts in his mind as Dudley chased him about the house, wanting to give him his birthday "pummels" with his beefy fists.
Mrs. Weasley had made roast and potatoes for dinner, and a four tiered, slightly tipsy cake iced with Gryffindor colours and the candle shaped as a golden snitch. Several parcels sat around Harry, gifts and letters from his friends and even some from complete strangers.
"Mum's going to have to get past the Quidditch themed birthday cakes eventually," Ron had whispered after swallowing the last bit of his third piece.
Bill and Fleur had come over, as well as Mrs. Tonks and Teddy Lupin. Eventually things had moved out into the gardens where Charlie and Fleur were busy making Teddy laugh and change the colour of his hair. Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley and Mrs. Tonks sat at the benches, ignoring the gnomes and speaking in low voices as Bill and Ron argued over the Cannons' chances of a Quidditch World Cup.
"They need to get rid of Gudgeon for one," Bill was saying loudly as Ron sputtered. "And maybe drink about fifteen cauldrons of Felix Felicitas."
"Get...rid...Gudgeon?! You're mad!" Ron threw his hands up in the air.
"Harry."
Harry turned from observing the Quidditch sparring to find Ginny standing behind him, her hands clasped behind her back and her hair framing her face. He fought the urge to push the red strand behind her ear.
"Do you have a minute?" she asked when he found himself staring.
"Oh, right. 'Course I do."
Ginny grinned and reached out to take his hand, sending pleasant tingles up through his arm. She led him to the side of the Burrow, away from the small crowd. He couldn't help but notice it was quieter here...darker...and more private....
