Luna missed Neville. There was no getting around the fact. She might not understand why, but she definitely missed him. And although she missed her other friends too, it was Neville whose absense she felt the most.

It wasn't supposed to be like this. When she'd found out that they were all returning to Hogwarts she'd been so excited, expecting everything to fall back into place. She'd wanted to spend time with her friends without the threat of Voldemort hanging over them. Instead, she'd hardly seen any of them, even Ginny.

So, after much deliberation, Luna decided to take matters into her own hands. Rather than waiting for her friends to just bump into her, she decided to get in touch with them insteaed.

For some reason, she sent an owl to Neville first.

Dear Neville,

I hope you don't mind me writing. I suppose you must be very busy with everything, but I was just wondering how you are and things.

It's nearly time for the first Hogsmeade weekend of the year, and I was wondering if you wanted to meet up. We could go for a butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks, perhaps, and I always like visiting the Shrieking Shack. I don't know why people get worried about the idea of it being haunted, I expect most ghosts are friendly if you're just polite to them first.

How are you coping with the NEWTs? I can't believe how much work it is. I've been spending a lot of my time in the library, and I'm supposed to be helping Daddy with the Quibbler on top of everything else. He seems a lot more interested in it now than he used to, but he often needs prompting.

Have you been reading it? I wrote the double page spread on Nargles that was in the last edition, you know. It took hours.

Anyway, I'm sorry, this was only meant to be a short owl. You might even be too busy to read it all.

I hope I'll see you soon, but, if not, I don't mind. I know there are much more interesting people to see than me, and your work will be keeping you tied down anyway, I expect. I hope everything is going well.

Luna
