She couldn't see anyone she recognised just yet, but she was sure they'd find her eventually. Right not she was simply enjoying the atmosphere.

By the time Katie arrived at the entrance to the Great Hall the Weird Sisters had already started their set. Hoards of dancers all dressed in exotic and classic outfits pulsed along to the music, their costumes lending a quality of stampeding to their actions. She, herself, had arrived in a shimmering dress of green and purple, the fabric changing colours along the spectrum as it moved along with the sway of her body. A delicate masque was fixed around her eyes and a magnificent set of decorative wings unfolded behind her shoulder blades, making her already tiny frame appear even more petite and deceivingly delicate. From the doorway, she scanned the room, looking for anyone she might recognise and be able to socialize with.

"Oy, broom boy!" Katie hollered after the retreating figure. Her unladylike voice clashed with the elegance of her costume and several heads of young prissy teens turned with sneers and painted-shut eyes to scoff at her brusque manner. The butterfly paid them no mind, however, for the object of her desires had ceased his casual walk and was turning slowly toward the familiar voice. "What are you doing, Wood? Trying to sneak past my defenses? Come on, we all know that's what I get paid for... your job is to try and stop my advances."

Persephone, still positioned around Luna's neck, hissed in protest, and Luna's mask slipped down so that she couldn't actually see the figure even as he apologised.
One hand soothing Persephone, and the other adjusting her mask, she smiled at him just as he tried to disappear again.
"It's quite alright," she said brightly, not actually realising who she was speaking to, "It's rather crowded in here, isn't it?"
Which, she hoped, was the reason that she hadn't seen any of her friends all night. She was beginning to feel rather worried. This new year at Hogwarts was supposed to be a chance for them to pick up from where the war had forced them to stop, and instead things seemed to have gone back to how they were before the DA.

Theo often wondered if he thought too much about things.

She didn't even seem to notice he wanted to escape and avoid any further conversation, sticking out her hand once her mask was fixed properly.
"I'm Luna," she said, in case there was even one person in the school who didn't know about 'the Loony Ravenclaw girl'.

Someone bumped into her, and Mandy shot a hand up to keep the book from falling off her head. It was part of her costume. She wore a brown medieval dress and a white cloth veil, while balancing a red book on top of her head. She had decided not to use magic to keep the book balanced because it was much more of a challenge to see if she could do it without.
She thought she might make an exception if asked to dance, though.
Mandy glanced about, looking for Su Li or at least for someone she knew. She caught sight of Luna dancing with someone in cowboy garb, and she spotted someone in a Superman costume. Mandy decided to have a nibble of cake while she watched the dancing.
