Dear Neville,
How is your house hunting going? Any interesting prospects? Have you thought any more about the idea of sharing?
Can I just say I am going slowly mad here at home and am looking forward to coming back to Hogsmeade next week to continue helping out where I can.
You might well wonder what is driving me so crazy? Maybe your grandmother has a more rational approach to wizarding society than Mummy. Honestly, I think she would like to dress me up and parade me in front of every eligible wizard in the whole country! I keep skirting around the subject or retiring to the far end of the garden with books saying that I can't even think about social events with NEWTS hanging over my head. Happily I had six years of watching Hermione bury herself in schoolwork to bring this off easily. Of course, I am studying but not as much as I am pretending to.
I've had a talk with Daddy, who is so much more sensible, about my desire to move out and experience a little independence though I phrased it as 'gaining a greater sense of responsibility'. He seemed very open to the idea saying he is happy to ensure I can pay my way.
I hope you don't mind but I tentatively brought up the subject of sharing a house with other students from my year. No names mentioned mind you though I did say 'boys and girls' and he didn't say anything negative about a mixed house share. I had armed myself with a little research and apparently muggles do it all the time after they leave school. I didn't need to say anything so maybe it's common in our world too. Or at least not scandalous!
Anyway, I'd better sign off as we are going to to visit my sister Artemisia in Ireland for the day. Hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes,
Lavender
PS: Are you at your grandmother's or Hogwarts? I am trusting my owl will be able to find you.
