Oh, it's been an even longer while...

So much for posting even once a month... And now I'm mostly posting because I've got a question, to be honest. But let's start with that and then see where we go ( Read more... )

Wow - I haven't had a similar email but am so rarely on LJ these days that my journal has fallen down the back of the couch cushions, out of Russia's view I guess. Very curious though that it relates to a 2021 entry! Fingers cross that it is just a glitch email and nothing to worry about.

Not sure what comm you're talking about, where previous posts were deleted, but that's sacrilege. These comms are part of the history of fandoms and to delete posts shows a total lack of respect for what has gone before.

OFMD is a brilliant "gay pirate romcom" (The Guardian's description). Every single character is deserving of screen time. The fandom launched a huge "save our show" campaign, trying for a third season, but I haven't heard the outcome.

That's what I would have thought about mine - my posts have been so sporadic over the last few years, even if I have intermittently tried a bit harder... I'm really hoping it's a glitch email, because if my lj does go, then so does an awful lot of comm content that's formatted around my lj pictures and so on... Eep-face!

It's called pros_wip, and was started by maddalia way back when. I must admit that I don't remember much about it, but I'm a member from back then, so clearly there were posts and things were happening - and now the only posts there are the ones since Fiorenza claimed the comm for herself this year. Like you say, it's deleting fandom history, and just not okay imnsho...

Sorry but i am only jumping in regards to the pressing of a like button. I have deleted a few posts recently because i like to engage with people, the like button is something i am not very keen on. It's too much like fb.

Yeah - engaging with people was the whole point of lj for me, that's exactly why I signed up in the first place.

To be honest, though, I also back away from ljs where posts are regularly deleted, because as I was saying with Miwahni above, deleting things feels like taking away our fandom. If a post is deleted where I've made comments, it feels like someone telling me "shut up! I have no interest in your words and what you said about this!" and that makes me really uncomfortable too. I think that when someone goes to the effort of engaging with someone else's post, it's a valuable thing, and it immediately becomes part of the history of both those people, not just the person who has control of the lj/comm. And it's that engagement I miss on lj!

I am still reading, and am probably guilty of pressing the 'like' button with some of your photo posts. I'm more active on Dreamwidth, although there's little conversation over there, just comments and replies but not a full thread.

Hello still-reading! Sorry I haven't been posting anything for you to read... I know alot of people moved to Dreamwidth, but I've not really seen much conversation/engagement over there, either...

The like button is so easy, I know - and it's not that I don't appreciate it, I really do! And sometimes it's all the energy that you have that night as you scroll through, and it's still saying something to the post-er. I don't have access to the like button, because I'm stubbornly sticking to my old style lj, but if I did I'm sure I'd use it for people's posts.

It's just that I miss the conversation too - I wish the like button was being used in addition to chatting together, but we seem to have moved away from that somehow...

That's weird about LJ deleting one of your posts. You'd think there would be some way of contacting those in charge and getting a straight answer.

Every once in awhile I get one of those heart responses. I'm not crazy about them, either. It seems like such a cursory response.

And I loved Our Flag Means Death! I really do wish there would be a third season, which was supposed to round off the romance.

Oh they didn't delete it - as far as I can see it's still there. They say they removed spam content from it, although I have no idea what that might be. The only thing I can think of is that I included a link to AO3, since it was an AO3 meme, but I mirrored my lj and dw, and I can't see any links in that version which they might have deleted... So maybe it really is just a glitch email, but... yeah, weird...

I really do appreciate the "likes", and I know that sometimes you can't think of anything to say specifically, or are looking when you're too tired for your brain to work its way into a comment, but I do miss the conversations we used to have on lj, and wonder whether it's worth posting if other people aren't wanting conversation... And I know I'm guilty of not commenting on your book posts too, for instance, so it bounces back at me, too... (I don't have access to the "like" button on lj, because I'm stubbornly sticking to my old-style lj!)

Hurrah, another Our Flag Means Death fan! *g* It's brilliant, isn't it... I'm still ( ... )
