This makes so much sense. I've noticed that if I use the stick of "exercise anyway, dammit!" my punishment annoyance and resistance flares up and I stop cooperating. But if I use the carrot of "let's just go and enjoy it, and take it slow as long as we have to" and walk instead of run, or minimize distance, or just go to yoga and go thru the motions instead of forcing myself to push... I end up enjoying everything more and more, which ends up getting me out there way more often, and when I'm happy and I really feel good, I put more energy into it anyway -- and all that means overall more benefit to my health.

That's a longass way of saying I think you're smart. :}
