Ouch!

While eating my sammich, I heard this 'pop' sound.

I didn't know it was even possible to tear your lingual frenulum without violently stretching it...

Sorry if this was TMI, but it's not gorey or even really very painful... I'm just a little sore and much with the freaked out.

edit: Not painful when I wasnt talking. Talking is cruel and

1) Ow.
2) Ew.
3) WTF, was the 'sammich' alive and struggling?
4) Any advice for the kids on how not to have this happen at home?

1,2: I'm sorry
3: i guess it was. I was probing the roof to dislodge a piece of bread...
4: no idea, since I thought that was in the normal range of motion... it didn't really seem to feel stretched, it just happened.

Hehe sorry. I wish I would lose my appetite, but instead I have half a sandwich next to me while I'm still hungry, mocking me.

This raises the notion that your post occurred in the context of you hearing the pop, probing the injury, and either proving very aware of the anatomy of tongues, or checking wikipedia and then posting. Er, come on, didn't this need any treatment? Will your tongue heal more mobile now that the frenulum is torn? Or will it scare, giving you a funny speech issue?

I could immediately tell where the pop came from, and had to check teh intertoobz to find what it is called. With the proper term, I found some advice that kept as immobile as possible and regularly cleaned with a saltwater rinse, it should heal fairly easily.

Granted that is quite some faith in strangers, but it seems to comply with what I know of oral first aid. (I have many friends with piercings and such)

I am also guessing that there is no "tongue splint" you could use eh?

That's just... odd. No more oral gymnastics for you, my friend! *shakes finger severely*
